I create online courses that teach parents and teachers how to teach maths. These encompass a clear explanation of the skill that is being taught, concrete materials you might use, short videos that model me teaching the skill, practical examples of how you can practise the skill in everyday life and how to know when your child is ready to be taught the next skill. Maths Assessment
I offer one on one maths assessment for children in the early years and for upper primary aged children who might be struggling with number.
My assessment involves me sitting with the child and asking a series of questions often involving visual prompts and concrete materials. I asses counting, place value, addition & subtraction, multiplication & division. The evaluation gives me an exact measure of the childs’ current skills and knowledge and hence the next skill to be learned according to a sequential continuum of maths understanding. I then write a report explaining this and include how to teach the next skills and different ways to teach and practise the skills, resources to use, language, etc.
